    The foundation of Lacticinios do Paiva, S.A.leads us back to the early 30s, a time when two small companies, Lacticinios de Lamego, Lda and Lacticinios da Beira, Lda, used to labour one in Lamego and the other in Castro Daire. From the merging of these two companies was born the company Lacticinios do Paiva, S.A.operating in Lamego. All the production was home made type, and the raw materials came exclusively from the district farmers. At the time the main activity was the production of milk and butter for the inhabitants of the city of Lamego.As time went by, the manufacturing of cheese started to dominate the production and today is an exclusive activity.

    Lacticinios do Paiva, S.A. is characterized by the bet on the equipment modernisation in order to keep up with the sanitary requirements and market trends, broadening the range of products always placing the label Paiva in all of then. Lacticinios do Paiva, S.A. is today an important pole for the social and economical development of the country, gathering the milk of more than 800 producers.

    The production of cheese in Portugal is an ancient tradition. From north to south, cheese has assumed a key role in the diet of the general population. The region of Tras-os-Montes early became a privileged region for the production of quality cheese. Good pastures are the assurance of a unique cheese. Paiva plant produces a range of quality cheeses, that won several cheese contests including the Product of the Year in Portugal in Cheese category, in our modern plant in Lamego.
