    Metal Recycling
    Today, world produces more than 1000 million tonnes of steel every year and metal scrap portion as a raw material is large and increasing every year. There are wide ranges of scrap used, both in terms of carbon and other alloying element percentage and its size (shredded to large beams). Instead of using raw iron resources, steel scrap can be melted through electric current and used to make new steel products. This is beneficial for both economical and environmental point of view.

    Electric power in the range of 50-120MW is being supplied through electric arc created between the electrodes inside the furnace. Depending upon the scrap composition, temperature inside the furnace reaches up to melting temperature of 1500 deg. C to 1550 deg. C. During and after melting, many compounds and elements react with each other. Oxygen is being injected in to the steel phase through lance in order to reach required quantity of respective elements. After that, it passes through continuous casting process to produce steel billets which are than supplied to rolling and other mill processors.
