    Catonic (M) Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated in 1999 principally to be involved in 2 specialist areas of the construction industry. There are:- 1. The erosion control sector and 2. Complex steelwork and roofing. Catonic moved into the erosion control industry when in 1999 its directors are involved in the taking over of an erosion control matting factory which had ceased operation for three years. The factory, which is now called MTS fibromat (M) Sdn. Bhd., took another 3 months to be revived with the repair and restoration of its existing facilities and the addition of another line of production.

    Aggressive marketing was put in place for the next one and a half years and thankfully the factory is currently working full hours to meet up to demand. Through this first experience and the knowledge of future market requirement, Catonic (M) Sdn. Bhd. ventured further into the erosion control industry by taking up a few other product agencies to broaden our market penetration.

    The acquisition of the North American Green agency for Malaysia has enabled us to participate in bigger and more challenging projects as by now the Government is more concern regarding issues relating to flooding and hill slope failures. Importation and distribution of NAG's products is now being transferred to a sister company, Evergreen Channels Sdn. Bhd.

    Overseas market within the Asian region was also approached through the network developed by the company. Exports of our products as well as North American Green's has been quite successful and for that our agency was extended to include Taiwan.

    New products are continuously being developed and sought for in the numerous and varied projects that Catonic (M) Sdn. Bhd. is involved in. A second factory was acquired in November 2001 to produce Coir and coir products. Currently apart from the coir itself, the factory is churning out coir logs, straw wattle, coir silt fencing and traps and etc.

    Ingenious use of all these materials and knowledge in bioengineering methods and techniques has enabled the company to work together very closely with consultants through the giving of advice on erosion and slope protection measures. This gives the company an edge over the others especially in specification selling.

    Continuous effort is being put in by the management team to keep on developing its product range so as to ensure the company remains in the forefront of the erosion control business. Having previously involved in many mega projects in the country, the management foresee that environment friendly erosion control is the way and the business of the future.

    Catonic naturally became a specialist in the complex steelwork & roofing market because its Directors were all either Directors or Senior Managers of Westbury Tubular (M) Sdn.Bhd.
