    The AMIRA GROUP has its origin in British India , founded by the Chanana family in the year 1915. The primary business was agro commodities, which was later re-established when the family relocated to New Delhi , post Independence in 1947 by Late Shri Karam Chand Chanana. The Group began its first set of expansion/innovation under the stewardship of Mr. Anil Chanana in 1979, making the group, the first private company in India to import pulses & distribute the same in India.
    In 1993, AMIRA started the technology revolution in the rice milling industry by becoming the first Indian company to establish a rice mill, where the product is untouched by hand, with the plant supplied by the Swiss German company BUHLER.
    The next phase of dynamic growth for the AMIRA group started in the early part of the new millennium under the leadership and able guidance of our Managing Director Mr. Karan A Chanana
    AMIRA, is amongst the first few Indian Food Companies to have ISO 9001:2000 certification and HACCP approval besides SQF2000 Quality Code (Safe Quality Food). AMIRA has been recognized as a Three Star Export House by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and has won several awards for excellence in exports by the Government of India. The turnover of the company for 2008-09 is slated to be $230 million.
    The Group operates in the domestic and international market with its premium rice brands of AMIRA, INDIGO, GOODLENGTH, GURU, SHARBATI and PASHMINA
    The Group setup ITS subsidiaries in DUBAI, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE and USA launched its branded edible oil in East African nations, supported by the sales & marketing staff based in Dubai. AMIRA exports primarily to MIDDLE EAST, Europe, Africa, Far East COVERING over 30 countries around the globe.
